Andamani's of the World Unite !
An earthquake of the magnitude 8.8 on Richter Scale rocked Japan today morning, leading to buildings in capital Tokyo shaking in the impact and people rushing out to the streets.
Japanese television showed heavy damage caused by a tsunami that followed the massive quake.
National broadcaster NHK Television showed images of people getting medical treatment and footage of a tsunami engulfing a warehouse in Kamaishi in Iwate prefecture, with cars and trucks submerged. Ships were shown smashing into harbour walls on NHK.
Is the Andaman & Nicobar Admin. well prepared in case of another Tsunami ? Is the disaster preparedness enough ? Is the Tsunami warning system fool-proof ?

what will hapen if tsunami caused by that magnitude of earthquake hits near andamans . our admin have destroyed all the high mountain ranges.. especially the area behind carbynscove ( brookshbad in particular.........the den of quarry operators.......... this hill use to protect of land from the strong storm winds/rains and ofcourse water from the sea...............at this rate next time the water will surely destroy schooline, lambaline, austinabad, prothrapore, bird line and phataggudda....................the dc should pause the renewl of quarry lisence and leave like this ..so that what is remaining is left for the protection of the specified area............
this can be true to some extent...........we had rainfall in the month of jan, feb even till date we are receving rainfall.this could trigerred by the global warming. this fact cannot be denied...............folks are also relating this to the super moon...but somewere down the line these are sudden changes which we have observed since 2004. after the devastating tsunami which hit banda ache.
even in the islands since then the const work also gained momentum in the name of tsunami and development. all efforts failed to reclaim the sea encroached land .. in this case a proper study should be carried out about the construction also..........everywhere its the rcc construction the municipal has extended the const from 2 to 4 storyes.
90% of the buildings including the schools dosen't have escape route in case of emergency. when will our admin think on these lines also....................
