Tsunami smashes Japan after 8.8 quake
An earthquake of the magnitude 8.8 on Richter Scale rocked Japan today morning, leading to buildings in capital Tokyo shaking in the impact and people rushing out to the streets.
Japanese television showed heavy damage caused by a tsunami that followed the massive quake.
National broadcaster NHK Television showed images of people getting medical treatment and footage of a tsunami engulfing a warehouse in Kamaishi in Iwate prefecture, with cars and trucks submerged. Ships were shown smashing into harbour walls on NHK.
Is the Andaman & Nicobar Admin. well prepared in case of another Tsunami ? Is the disaster preparedness enough ? Is the Tsunami warning system fool-proof ?

friend what they have done is just 2%..other making few contractors rich...............the best part is that ,the contractors decides and genartes work.... you go with cash loads and tell the engg that you will do this work tand you will surely be awareded...................Tsunami is a natural disaster awarness is what is required till 2004 i never knew what is tsunami.... we had a chapter is school called tidal wave........like you have told its not full proof...........the sea wall constructed along burma nallah is all given away and is in bits and pieces. who is to be blamed.... what the japs made between 43 and 45 is standing rock solid.....

When Indonesia has given tsunami alert, is Nicobar safe I think it is close to Indonesia.

As far as the preparedness of A&N administration is concerned, we will only know the exact status once any disaster strikes.

Hi Everyone..... I'm just stuck to the TV and am checking for updates every minute from any source thats available... Hope you all are safe there... they have alerted around 20 countries, Indonesia being one of them, and we know how close is that to our islands.
Hope that nothing negative happens, even if does, hope the Govt. is ready with everything. Be safe, keep praying!!!

The Dc office control room with nos. 23881 any information/assistance can be acquired from there. they were also unaware about the tsunami in jap.
day before yesterday nicobar had tremor somewere around 4 in the ritcher scale.
till date all in the islands are safe...........except for climate change its pouring heavily these days.... i have never seen rains in the month of march.

Earth quake could not be predicted but Tsunami can be, even then it is difficult to save life and property of the nearest affecting coast in the a short time. Japan is facing disaster after disaster by earth quake , water, fire and now by the nuclear emergency due to radiation leak. Lets pray for the people of Japan.

during the 2004 tsunami also the earth had shifted from the axis and even presently its reported like this...will this have an impact on the climate......we could notice drastic change in the climate..................is it because of this we are having rainfall...........................
