Is the Andaman tourist department listening ?
Dear Mr Sudhir,

As i have already mentioned we can do nothing in this regards its because we share the sea called andaman sea. there are plenty of things written in the name of andaman.
so do something (like a portal on andaman giving all information about shops take add from the company etc.
Dear Shibu,

I agree with you that you or me cannot do anything in regard. However, the Andamans tourism department can certainly do something about it.

The Andamans tourism department should come out with a Web Marketing policy in tune with the stakeholders of tourism like Travel agents, Hoteliers etc., The Andamans tourism department should formulate online marketing strategies to leverage the power of Online Media - example Search Engine Marketing - to promote tourism in Andamans.

The Kerala Tourism department has a marketing budget of Rs. 25 Crores per year - Out of which at least Rs. 5 Crores per year is for Web or Online Marketing activities.

Kerala is one of the first State Tourism Departments to embark on digital marketing initiatives. Kerala Tourism has always been quick to respond to market requirements and the latest initiative caters to the new tech-savvy traveler, who uses the Internet to plan and book his travel arrangements.

These initiatives will make Kerala more accessible to travelers and enhance the resourcefulness of www.keralatourism.org. What is more important are the opportunities it will create for small-time entrepreneurs in the State to reach out and access new markets.

Kerala Tourism has tied up with YouTube, the highly popular video sharing site and set up a branded channel www.youtube.com/keralatourismdotorg to promote its promotional video content worldwide. The channel not just promotes video content produced by Kerala Tourism, but also encourages users to produce and uplink their own videos on Kerala, thereby creating an enormous video content on Kerala online. It will help in Kerala videos being thrown up in search and in creating interest. The channel has received a stunning 1.2 million hits in the first 12 months of trial run.

I am happy to know that the Andamans Tourism department is coming soon with an enchanced Website keeping the stake holders in mind. This is a good beginning. But this is not enough.

Best,

Sudhir

We should promote Andaman's tourism related  websites on the World Wide Web.

The only solution, if the tourism department is not listening is to create some really good content websites on Andamans Islands. I am working on one - go2andaman.com

Slowly and steadily I'm climbing up on the Google Rankings with the help of good content. All I'm trying to make sure is, I don't copy articles already online and create fresh ones.

I believe in few months down the line, my website would be ranking on the top 10 results for "andaman nicobar" keyword.

Later, I can start publishing articles/blog posts with keywords, Thailand guys are targeting. This sounds really easy to say, but takes in a lot of effort.

It has to be more of a combined effort of everyone. Simple thing like - travel agents when making a website can use quality content and just not list packages they want to sell. They should also think of investing in organic search optimization and not simply generate traffic using Google Adwords.

Sitting and cribbing about administration not being active will not help, we should rather collectively build up the online identity of our islands. Things like sharing backlinks with good websites we own can be done. Posting small articles on blogs on Andamans. Posting pictures. Posting videos. All this will surely help if each of us can contribute a little.
