Andamani's of the World Unite !
Permalink Reply by DEBKUMAR BHADRA on October 20, 2011 at 22:35 I joined Andamani(dot)Com last year on the advice of a person whome I admire a lot. After joining I could see a lot of people posting valuable discussions, comments etc all for the welfare of the islands.
But when time came for taking care of the community, the community friends just vanished somewhere. Mr Sudhir, the moderator has been reminding us repeatedly that subscription needs to be renewed and for this he need Rs 15000/=
The community is 800 member strong. Going by this figure and applying simple mathematics, each member's share comes to just Rs 18.75, but it is sad to see the collection figures still is in deficit. As per Mr Sudhir the status of contribution is as follows :
Till now, 5 Andamanis have contributed:
1. Subrata Chatterjee - Rs. 800 DGM-IT, IT Project Circle, BSNL, Pune
2. A person who wants to be anonymous - $ 15
3. Sheeja S - Rs. 1500
4. Ian Puffins - Rs. 1,101.34
5. Debkumar Bhadra - Rs. 1000
Dear community friends if we cannot help our own community, how would you help the islanders. I earnestly request all community members to donate to keep our community alive. Following is the account details :

It is really wonderful to see a website where people in Andamans interacts and discusses day to day issues. Personally I feel I am still living in Andamans wherever I read articles, incidents, news etc. though I am miles away. I feel we should not allow the website to shutdown. Individuals have different view points, we cannot make any judgement.
I am sure if you are currently living away from Islands, you would not want the website to shutdown as website brings back lot of memories to you. So please think and not allow the website to close. I am sure you are aware of the efforts that is needed by Admin to maintain & keep a website running. Lets not make the website down.

But what is surprising is when the community is unable to contribute for its own sustenance, then how will the community stand for islanders. I just cannot believe majority of the members has gone silent on this issue. May be we do not deserve such a platform.
