Andaman Hijacked by Thailand !!

Dont' worry.

I meant the Keyword, Andaman which has been hijacked by Thailand based Websites in Cyberspace.

Type the Keyword, "Andaman Sea" in Google:

You can see that all the top search results are Websites from Thailand.

So, what is the danger to Andaman ? This is actually a threat to tourism in Andamans. Is Mr. Bhushan , the Director of Andaman Tourism listening ?

Imagine this:
One guy in Australia wants to come to Andamans for learning, Diving.
So, he goes to Google & types, "Andaman Diving".

He will get this(http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1R2SKPB_enIN329&q=%2...) Search results in Google ! You can see in the link that the first result is a Website of thailand named http://www.andaman-diving-group.com .

You can also see in the above Google search results that that almost all the Search results are of Thailand based websites. Not a single website from Andamans, India.

So, where does this Australian who wanted to learn diving in Andamans, India finally go !

I agree with Mr. Christopher....that's true ...andaman name belongs to the andaman Islands and it should get its own copy right autority that no one should use the andaman name other than the andaman tour operators and people from andaman.

Here is a problem. Andaman sea covers a vast area. It streaches from Andaman Islands to Thailand, Malaysia & Indonesia. Their is the maritime demarkation of Andaman sea. I beleive some of the Andaman sea is considered as international waters, where the gambling is rampent on the cruise ships as their are no laws covering their and it is very popular with the tourist.
The solution would be some sort of copyright that "Andaman" name should be associated with the Andaman Islands itself and not used by any other country. As the Andaman islands are considered virgin and tourist would love to visit such places for diving & visiting, so their should not be any confusion in the name itself. I hope someone would take note and work on this. I believe, if the confusion is cleared, their would be a lot more tourist visiting the Andaman Islands. Cheers.......

Dear Shibu,
Regarding the Administrations way of working.We can't and shouldn't be expecting much from them.They are paid employees of the Govt of India.And one knows for sure that they get paid every 30 days whether they really worked for it or not.Talking about the employment oppurtunities,environmental problems,infrastructural developments,education and health facilities, its the people of the region who should think about it.The solution is self governance and we don't have it even after 60 years of Independence.

Have all thought about this issue ? Just now I was speaking to a Tour operator of Port Blair & he was telling that his business operates for only 3 months in a year. He says he cannot even make Rs. 5000 in this month.

He said he is dependent on Google Adwords( Right side, Sponsored Links in Google) for his business.

I understand that the awareness levels of Online Marketing techniques like Search Engine Optimization(SEO) is too low among the Tour operators . SEO can get Andaman websites a presence in the natural search results of Search Engines like Google. At present Thailand websites are hijacking the Keywords related to Andaman Islands.

I also came across an interesting phenomena on google search. When trying to get to the Andaman Island, the map takes me to some place in USA! Some places can have common names, so I tried to get Civil Wireless Road of Port Blair in Andaman Islands, to the same effect!

I need some help from any active Port Blair user like you. I'm trying to get in touch with a long lost friend Biju Varghese. I know he is in Port Blair, but cannot get any info on his contact like email or phone numers. Please help. I can see his name on the Poll Lists from 2008, 2009 andso on, and also gather from there that his polling booth in in the Civil Wireless are designated as 179.
