Andaman Hijacked by Thailand !!

I meant the Keyword, Andaman which has been hijacked by Thailand based Websites in Cyberspace.
Type the Keyword, "Andaman Sea" in Google:
You can see that all the top search results are Websites from Thailand.
So, what is the danger to Andaman ? This is actually a threat to tourism in Andamans. Is Mr. Bhushan , the Director of Andaman Tourism listening ?
Imagine this:
One guy in Australia wants to come to Andamans for learning, Diving.
So, he goes to Google & types, "Andaman Diving".
He will get this(http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1R2SKPB_enIN329&q=%2...) Search results in Google ! You can see in the link that the first result is a Website of thailand named http://www.andaman-diving-group.com .
You can also see in the above Google search results that that almost all the Search results are of Thailand based websites. Not a single website from Andamans, India.
So, where does this Australian who wanted to learn diving in Andamans, India finally go !

First of all let me thank you for all the efforts you have taken to atleast think about these islands is cos you are from port blair. these people so called guardians of admin are from mainland and do you think they are bothered about these islands. i definitely so no they are here to amass bucks for their future. CBI enquriy should be initiated against them they have taught us to be cruel ,mean ,self centered
we islanders were never like this.
take for the former DC Mr Singh. whom the MP had given send off party( irony is that Mp giving send offf party just think about protocol). when the residents of prothrapore and brichgunj had protested the quarry /crusher issue DC pimped the whole issue giving false promise to the poor by promising jobs and land to stop the agitation/// once again its not the tourism dept sorry to tell they dont even have a brochure of these islands. no map/ no info/ We really need dedicated people for this.
atleast cos thailand v r in the international map..

The department of tourism has over 3000 mails lying unattended in its inbox, as per reports. Bhushan or Saxena are the officers who are here to make hay while the sun shines. And the sun shines on tourism a little too brightly. They are 'paying guest' officers who live by their suitcases and damn care about development of tourism in the islands.
The political bosses are comatose. They wake up during elections and go back to sleep once th elections are over. They too are least bothered about any development let alone tourism development and the avenues it can open or the unemployed youth. They too are interested only in buttering their own bread - on both sides!
In such a scenario, you can't expect much from these worthies in bureaucracy or politics. What possibly could be the alternate? It is for the people to decide.

Thank God for a couple of exceptions like these - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andaman_Sea and http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/23505/Andaman-Sea.
But it's no surprise that the think tank of the A & N Administration's Deptt. of Tourism is still in the kindergarten stage, at least, in terms of intent and it's painfully farcical to see that there's hardly any notable presence of the department on the net apart from a handful of pages on www.and.nic.in. In fact, there's an admirable presence of Barefoot on the cyberspace.
High time for the Islanders to wake up & kick the butts of the political as well as the administrative leadership in a bid to do something worthwhile for the sake of the generations to come. Thanks, Sudhir, for sharing!

We need to raise resources to protect our identity. the THAI's destroyed their culture and natural heritage with indiscriminate & insensitive tourism. Now they want to canabalize our cultural and natural heritage. These buggers have been poaching our fishes and now they have started poaching our tourists.
I dont expect the BABU sitting at portblair to do anything like hacking the predators ( govt servants are gandhians so try to play safe with rules even when somebody is sapping the resources he is meant to protect) but he can atleast take e marketing initiatives to incease the hits of ANDAMAN based services & products websites. This is very simple, he has to hire consultant and pay him on the basis of success of achieving target ( no of hits) not for just making another website or book on e marketing strategy ( consultants would copy cut and paste from KOTLERS MARKETING PLACES..................

all they can do is make the work so cumbersome by moving the file from one table to the other and find ways to screw things.

and there is no one to voice
We can do so many things in these islands which can generate revenue for all of us and for our country. I think we are like frogs in a well and we feel that we r in heaven.
Even if we use islands resources to 25% and then too we will hv shortage of manpower.
The thing is direction from the top level, idea from our leaders which may be Vakkam or our LG (he must have heard about Vakkam) or our MP or our CS (we think he wants dev).They can take ideas form people if they want too.
Few ideas i can give
BRIDGE PORT BLAIR TO BAMBOFLAT long long ago it should have built
BRIDGES ATR ROUTE 2 NOS
(the amount of money govt spends on boats deisel we could have recovered the cost of Bridges in 2 years)
LeT US REACH DIGLIPUR BY ROAD IN 4 HRS MAKE ROAD LIKE IN INDOASIA ( 360KM IN 3 HRS i hv traveled with my son and it is 3rd world country and they were planning to make 600 multi storied buildings in there province ha ha Earth quaqe zone)
All the main islands will develop fast and people will not panic to go on Transfer to islands
NO DEVLOPMENT CAN TAKE PLACE IF THE TOP MANGMENT WANTS IT.
Thats why ANDAMANS are near thighland and in not OUR ANDAMANS
We will have to push ideas to them WE HOPE THEY WILL HEAR US.

It's about making the right choices, Buddy! "Badal daalo" is what's required to be done. Why do the Islanders have to vote everytime to either of the two major poles whether locally or nationally? It's merely because that's the Hobson's choice available to the folks.
We can always have the sincerely vociferous members of communities, groups, associations like this one who mean business vis-a-vis bringing about the desired or the required changes in the system come together, try and form a worthwhile network, constantly create pressure on the existing leadership (political or/and bureaucratic). And if that doesn't work out again, we can always groom our network gradually to present a viable option to the masses and topple them over
their thrones, thereby grabbing the reins and materializing the plans.
I always believe that if you don't like any rule, just follow it, reach the top and CHANGE THE RULE...! :)

In terms of development the admin can do only few things/ during the visit of the president around 200 trees were shaved off at wandoor / i do not know for what reasons/ later the forest had promised to replant , nothing has been done so far the whole beach has become a bottle neck.same was done in raj niwas around 300 of them were cut cos Lg could not see ross island/ i support Mr Jadwert idea for bringing Vokkam back so that he does some things for the islands present ADMINISTRATOR I thought was a dynaic person later only i came to know that he has come to port blair to take rest.
For this people to work we islanders should go on a sinature campaign//cut all their facilities force them to be Austere.i think the work force inside Raj niwas should be more than 1000 people other than security every body should be sent back to their parent dept/ WHY ONLY TSUNAMI SHELTERS MAKE ALL OFFICES WITHOUR RCC STRUCTURE AS V LIE ON THE FAULT LINE
ALL BUNGLOWS TO BE DEMOLISHED AND GIVEN QUARTERS EXPAND PORT BLAIR .THE SITE OFFICE OF THE AIRPORT PWD OFFICE IS AN EXAMPLE THERE ARE MANY MORE AIRFORCE OFFICE AT PROTHRAPORE EVEN FEW PRIVATE BUILDINGS LIKE THE TRUE VALUE MARUTI/RSN BUILDING ETC///THE PWD SHOULD IMPLEMENT THESE

Please do not go off-track. Let's talk about the topic.
This discussion is about "Andaman Hijacked by Thailand".
Why has the above happened ?
The reason is because Andamans has failed to make a presence in Cyberspace. Whereas Thailand has launched hundreds of Websites focussed on Tourism in Thailand . So, we may have to launch more & more Websites focussed on Tourism in Andamans.
There are Internet techniques called Search Engine Optimization(SEO) which can be done to Websites of Andamans.
I guess Andaman Tourism department should immediately take the services of a Internet Consultant to reverse the damage done as Anirban has suggested.

Well, I have known people going for diving trips into the Andaman sea from Singapore. Even their are cruises on the Andaman seas. I have known this because, as my former colleague from briton used to go for fishing and driving trips. These trips are very popular and mainly organised by malaysian operators.
Here is a problem. Andaman sea covers a vast area. It streaches from Andaman Islands to Thailand, Malaysia & Indonesia. Their is the maritime demarkation of Andaman sea. But unfortunately some of the andaman sea lies in above mentioned countries too. I beleive some of the Andaman sea is considered as international waters, where the gambling is rampent on the cruise ships as their are no laws covering their and it is very popular with the tourist.
The solution would be some sort of copyright that "Andaman" name should be associated with the Andaman Islands itself and not used by any other country. As the Andaman islands are considered virgin and tourist would love to visit such places for diving & visiting, so their should not be any confusion in the name itself. I hope someone would take note and work on this. I believe, if the confusion is cleared, their would be a lot more tourist visiting the Andaman Islands. Cheers.......
